Nozzle selection here is the key to efficient watering much more so than the brand name sprinkler head itself. Not every head should have the size of the same nozzle in it. For instance, if a head in a corner is rotating on a ninety-degree pattern with a 2.0 gallon per minute (GPM) nozzle, the overlapping head next to it rotating on a 180-degree pattern should have a 4.0 GPM nozzle because it’s doing twice the operation. Many irrigation contractors overlook their nozzle selection just to get the job done.
